Once you start looking at life as an economist, it's hard to stop. The Women's Studies class is very different to me than one I would have looked at as an undergrad student. I could spend days in there looking at comparisons worldwide of wage rates, forced prostitution, etc. I think my students would get a little bored, though.KMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07723156884341428020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7863339231703155745.post-30639118373883959112008-04-28T12:30:00.000-07:002008-04-28T12:30:00.000-07:00I never knew that there was a specific position lo...I never knew that there was a specific position looking at women and economics. I'm glad there is, but then again it's sad that there needs to be one. Though, women and men are different in ways of thinking and solving problems. It is nice to know there is someone out there to look for women and the economy today.caitlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17671460139231762608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7863339231703155745.post-75957898243090333652008-04-27T19:17:00.000-07:002008-04-27T19:17:00.000-07:00that is very very very interesting to me. the mor...that is very very very interesting to me. the more i learn about GDP the less accurate it seems. although it is good for a very general idea of how healthy an economy is, along with ignoring these unpaid roles that woman have (and men too actually), it also fails to include externalities, the existence of black markets, among many other things.savannalopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12609914931139182153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7863339231703155745.post-55135835274286948252008-04-27T17:45:00.000-07:002008-04-27T17:45:00.000-07:00Coming out of Women's Studies last semester (anoth...Coming out of Women's Studies last semester (another great McDaniel class) I can see why there would be a need for "Feminist Economics". It's true that in many societies women do more "work" and arn't compensated for it. A nation's success should be measured by how well people can provide for themselves not by monetary means. It's always important to take all perspectives when trying to "solve" problems.BethanyStoppelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00703607206146898181noreply@blogger.com
